I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas

No really, I am. Because nine days out from Christmas we are as green as summer here.

So snow gods, take pity on me.
Send me some snow so I can ski.
What I should be seeing.

What I am seeing.

No Warblers Here!

As you might have guessed from my recent photos, it's winter here. This leads to a lack of summer birds. I love to photograph birds and so I am posting pics of some common winter birds around our house.
Blue Jays are also seen a lot but they never stay still long enough for me to get a good picture.

Crow in the snow.

Starling.

Sorry it's a bit blurry. It's a house sparrow!

Still a house sparrow!

Junco hanging from dead Goldenrod.

Junco!

Still a Junco!

You probably know what this is now!

The Rain and the Blizzard.

It rained. We watched the snow melt away. It was so sad. You can tell by my lack of description that I was very, VERY sad.
But then some snow god took pity on us and yesterday the wind was hollowing and the snow was blowing everywhere and it lasted well into the night.
So this morning when I got up I saw this welcoming sight...

Look at all the snow!!!!!!!!
Now we must pray that it doesn't rain again.

Birds.

I meant to post this ages ago...

I have been taking a lot of bird pictures lately. One of my fav birds is a crow I named White Wing. He is partially albino, and is often seen with another, rather-larger-then normal crow.
My Uncle Brian is visiting, along with my two cousins, and he is a bird fanatic as well. He ran a marathon two days ago.

And now for Birds. (And pics of Uncle Brian doing the Marathon).

I actually took way more, but I'm only posting a few.

White Wing.

Ravens!!!!!!!

Loon!

Juvenile Cedar Wax Wing.

Junco.

Uncle Brian!

Finishing the Marathon!

It Snowed!!!

How long have I been missing?! 4 MONTHS!!!!!???? Oh dear, I am really terrible at keeping track of time... Well.... I've been busy... I promise that I will write the next part of Element in the near future and that I will keep up with my life on this blog. And if I don't keep my promise then feel free complain in the comments.

Anyway, the purpose of this post...

It snowed!!!  The first big snowfall of the year!!! So obviously Isaac and Alex went outside to build a snow man...

Lifting the head...

Placing the head...

Halloween- man!

July.

July is a summer month in all respects, and now we must move on to August. August is a vacation month, the month we're you realize that you have too many things happening, and you wish desperately that you could go back to July. For us this year, its the other way around, and I look forward to a semi relaxing August, because, honestly, there are still things going on.

But July is a brave month, and I feel we should bid a respectful farewell.

July.

Joy
Unique
Lemonade
You gotta love it!!

Farewell July. You were a wonderful month.

Rain.

Writing poetry about rain is hard, but it is still one of my favorite subjects. Capturing the actual feeling of it is a challenge I enjoy.

5 Minute Rain.

Wind,
drives saltless tears
like fists
into pavement.
Pounding,
pouring rage
into a thunderous
drone.
Bounces on
impact,
shocked by its
failure.
It tries,
and tries
again.

After the Rain.

Damp
hangs like
dead breath
in the air.
Feathers rustle,
lost in leaves
and
branches.
A voice rings out,
a shrilling tone of
rebirth.

Caught by Rain.

Bars of water
imprison
the lost.
Unsuspecting,
they walked,
jerked back by the
the shock
and joy
of wet.

Photography.

Recently I have discovered a deep and profound love for photography, and using our brand new, super top quality camera(well at least the best I've had!), I have taken many a picture.
I love to photograph birds, plants, and Alex. One of my fav subjects is a robin I have named Glipper. He is identifiable by the fleck of white under his right wing.
These are not all of my pics, trust me.

A rock.

Behold, Glipper.

Starling.

A warbler, I think its a Black and Yellow warbler.

White throated sparrow. Mom's fav bird.

Alex. Shortly after I took this pic, he fell in the water.

Glipper with worms.

Glipper still with worms.

Behold the epic-ness of Daley.
This is a pic of a stream, but all you can see is the reflection of the trees above.

Contemplating life.

Happy Canada Day!

I did a ski camp this past weekend, and it only just wrapped up at lunch today, so I am really, really, tired. Not much is happening today. But I am a Patriotic Canadian, and will honor our country as best as is my capability.

My way is to take pictures of the amazing day we have today. It is sweltering out. We also got a snazzy new camera, so I was excited to test it out.

The view of the bay from our house.

Its so nice out!!!

This picture was really cool.

Canadian woods.

Canadian grass.

Canadian buttercup.

Canadian small white flower.

Canadian Clover.

Canadian Robin.

Birthday Mist?

This was supposed to be posted 2 days ago on June 26.

Happy Birthday Mom!!!
As you can see it's Moms birthday, so I have written an Acrostic birthday poem for her.

Jennifer.

June
Excellent
Nice
Nicer
Intelligent
Fun
Energetic
Runner.

My mom is a wonderful person, as well a mom, and when I say she's intelligent, I'm not just saying it, I mean it. She is one of the smartest people I know. Really. If people where just willing to listen, she could change the world single handily.
There will be a lack of pictures today because our camera had an unfortunate accident... You'll have to use your imagination.

Now for the mist part of the blog post. I know I have already posted a poem, a haiku specifically,  about mist in the past, but yesterday it was so misty out, I had to write another. I'm talking about mist so thick that when you look out your window, you can't see half way down your street.

An Ode to Mist.

Mist,
breathes life
into your shadow,
whispers along
your spine,
seeps into your hair and
eyes.
Shelters
you from yourself.

Tell it your secrets,
and forget all
about them.
The mist owns
them now.

As you can see, I feel very safe when surrounded by mist.

Good Bye Forset.

I wrote this in the spring and forgot to post it. We were re-reading it and thought it was pretty funny so we decided to post it anyway...

We went to the park today. There is soooooooooo much garbage all over the ground. Why is everyone tossing their trash on the ground!? In our park!? It just doesn't make sense! I counted 16 Robins, and if all the Robins suddenly decided to collect all the garbage in the park, they could of all gotten 200 pieces each easily. Trash outnumbering Robins? Not good.

There is an irony to this.

I'm not sure what the point of this is.

Some one lost their glove.

Right in front of the parking lot.

Why?! Why!? Why!?

A plastic sheet wrapped around a tree.
This looks really nice doesn't it?

Look closer.

This is behind the Park.

Look Mom! A wild Coffee Cup! It's a disposable one too!

What a lovely scene. But I spy a coffee cup.

An abandoned shoe.

His Buddy was hanging out there too.

A "rare" piece of leaf litter.

The pond went shopping for Liquor.
Of course, the park is beautiful too. But if this trash keeps building up, it might look completely different.  Below are pictures of my brothers enjoying nature, and some exceptionally beautiful pictures of our park.

A resident of the park.

One of the bazillion Robins hanging around. I looooove Robins!

Who knew marshes where so pristine looking?

This just looks so perfect.

Seagulls are nice too!!!

Isaac ice fishing.

Mom and Nan.

Isaac leads the way for Alex and Daley.

Alex fell into a hole.

There is something so Epic about this.

Off we go!

A path leading to...Somewhere.
